The new Vince Staples record is spectacular. I would argue the best Hip Hope record of the last 5 years. Everybody I’ve played it for has asked within 2 songs who it is. Album is “Big Fish”. Standout tracks are the title track, Love can be..., Yeah Right, Homage, Party People, BagBak, Rain Come Down. Average tracks are Crabs in a bucket, 745. Skits and SAMO are environmental tracks or skippers.
I dont usually Stan for albums, it’s really that good... enjoy. Only 2 videos thus far... better experienced via Spotify or DL.

I prefer my Oppo-related hip hop in the old school Dirty South variety.

Migos is quite trendy... I gave it a couple listens and thought it was pretty dull. Disappointing, frankly, for how insanely hyped it was.

Hah, we can take it back:
I’m digging the new age too, tho. Kendrick, J Cole, Logic, RTJ, this Staples record is up there too... lotta good stuff out there for the first time in a long time, imo.

I like Drake, Lil’ Wayne, Travis Scott, B.o.B (even though he thinks the world is flat, really), and Meek Mill when it comes to today’s artists. I’m a sucker for a good original beat, though.

I haven’t listened to Big Fish yet but Vince is the second-most talented guy out here (Kendrick holds the throne right now, not sure if this is up for debate). IMO a few years from now when we’re looking back at the decade CULTURE will get more recognition. Both Migos and Young Thug are challenging, because you won’t “get it” until you’ve given up on getting it. There’s nothing to “get” in the conventional sense, which by the same hand is what makes it so brilliant.
